Majestic Monday #13

It’s been a month – which is waaayy too long. But I’m finally back with yet another Majestic Monday!

For anyone unfamiliar, Majestic Mondays are when I highlight an awesome looking book cover and talk about what I like about it.

This week, I’m gonna gush about the cover of Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros.

GENRES: Fantasy, Romance, Fiction

PUBLISHER: Entangled: Red Tower Books

RELEASE DATE: 2 May 2023

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros.

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general―also known as her tough-as-talons mother―has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away…because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter―like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.

She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom’s protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.

Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda―because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.

Book Cover Rating: 🪽🪽🪽🪽 • 4 / 5 wings

To start off, this is a gorgeous cover. We all know by now how much I like contrasting complementary colors in my covers, and this one has it, classic black on gold style. It’s very pleasing to look at.

I also like how the cover looks both geometric and natural at the same time. I love both things in my cover art, so both of these things together is just *chef’s kiss.*

It’s also not pictured here – as well as technically not part of the book’s cover – but I also love the edge art on the pages. It’s just beautiful, as well as being a reverse of the cover: as it’s gold on black. The bird imagery all over everything is just stunning in general, and my favorite thing about the book cover art.

Anyway, thank you so much for reading, and have an absolutely amazing day/night!

See ya ~Mar
