Bewitching Book Covers: Stolen Midnights

Happy Friday everyone! It’s been almost two months since I’ve done this post, which disappoints me, but January was just so busy. But I’m here with another Bewitching Book Covers now!

For anyone who doesn’t know, Bewitching Book Covers (formerly Tasteful Tuesdays, and before that, Majestic Mondays), is a series where I highlight an awesome looking book cover and talk about what I like about it. That’s it, that’s pretty much the point of this post.

This week, the book cover that I’m highlighting is Stolen Midnights by Katherine Quinn!

Stolen Midnights by Katherine Quinn

Stolen Midnights by Katherine Quinn

SERIES: Stolen Midnights #1

LENGTH: 464 pages

GENRES: Fantasy, Young Adult, Fiction

PUBLISHER: Delacorte Press

RELEASE DATE: 3 February 2026

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

The first in a new magical young adult romantasy duology from the New York Times bestselling author of To Kill a Shadow. A palace darling and a thief join forces after he unwittingly steals a necklace with the power to change their world forever.

In the city of Andalay, the ruling Fates bestow gifts among society’s most favored. When Damien, a cold and hardened thief, is hired to steal one of those gifts – meant for the “princess” of Ward One, Wren Hayes – he finds himself entangled in a web of secrets.

The gift? A locket containing his own photograph.

Once the locket is opened, hidden truths unravel, shedding light on the ruthless ways of the upper class. Yearning for the three Fates and the magical gifts they bestow, the lords of Andalay will go to any length to keep their power – including murder.

Brought together by destiny, and fighting a dangerous temptation that’s becoming harder to resist, Wren and Damien navigate a seedy world where the truth can destroy not only their lives, but the city itself.

Book Cover Rating: 🌹🌹🌹🌹 • 4 lovely roses

I’ve decided that since Queen of Faces got the Can’t-Wait Wednesday post, I’m going to do a Bewitching Book Covers post for Stolen Midnights. (It also has a great cover, by the way.) And though the book cover for the novel that I’m focusing on today is more simple compared to others I’ve done posts about before, it’s still absolutely beautiful and I really love it.

First off, I really like the background. It’s deep blue with patches of tiny stars dotted around it in a lovely imitation of the night sky. And seeing as the book is called “Stolen Midnights” this is extremely fitting.

The next notable thing about the cover art – and the aspect that first caught my eye about it – is the roses. I love how big they are, and how they come in two shades of pink. It adds a little more color to the cover. Another thing I really like about them is how the colors of the roses naturally complement, but also stand out from the background. It’s also a nice touch that the entirety of the flowers themselves are on the cover, and not just the colorful part with petals. The stems also feature on here, with their thorns and leaves, and the green of them adds yet more color to the book’s cover.

The last thing I want to highlight is the typography. Most books I gush about here have pretty good composition styles on their covers, and this one is no exception. I like the typography itself, and how its paleness makes it stand out from everything else going on on the book cover. The words are also made up of two colors – white and a light gray or silver – and it makes it even prettier. I also love how the gray or silver parts of the words make those parts of the letters seem in shadow. It just makes the cover of Stolen Midnights pop even further. Such a gorgeous cover!

So yeah, here’s yet another beautiful book cover. What do you think about this cover art? Have you read Stolen Midnights? If you have, what did you think of it?

Anyway, as always, thank you for reading, and I hope that you have an excellent day/night!

Bewitching Book Covers: For Whom the Belle Tolls

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone has had a good weekend. It’s only been three weeks this time since I’ve posted one of these! Yay!

For anyone who doesn’t know, Bewitching Book Covers (formerly Tasteful Tuesdays, and before that, Majestic Mondays), is a series where I highlight an awesome looking book cover and talk about what I like about it. That’s it, that’s pretty much the point of this post.

This week, the book cover that I’m highlighting is For Whom the Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn!

For Whom the Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn

For Whom the Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn

SERIES: Hells Belles #1

LENGTH: 628 pages

GENRES: Fantasy, Romance, Fiction

PUBLISHER: Saga Press

RELEASE DATE: 6 May 2025

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

They told her to go to Hell.

She’ll go on her own terms.

Lily is less than thrilled about her arrival to the Afterlife, but what awaits her is more fantastical than she ever could have imagined. Deities wait in line at the coffee shop. Fae flit between realms. Souls find ways to make death a beginning.

As Lily explores everything the Afterlife has to offer, she finds herself drawn to a place most people would rather avoid at all costs: Hell.

What she discovers there subverts everything she’s ever learned, and Lily realizes the demons working at the gate to guide souls need help—badly. Armed with years of customer service experience and pent-up sarcasm, Lily carves out a place for herself among the demons, confronting, sassing, and aiding the spectrum of humanity to redefine justice and redemption.

A chance meeting with Bel, a demon general with a distractingly sexy voice, sparks an immediate and deeply healing friendship. However, the undeniable heat between them simmers, and it’s only a matter of time before it combusts.

Meanwhile, something stirs beyond the boundaries of their world, threatening to destroy everything they’ve ever known and everything that could be… unless they fight like Hell to stop it.

Book Cover Rating: 🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔 • 5 ringing bells

For Whom the Belle Tolls has one of the most gorgeous book covers that I’ve seen in a while. So many things about it – the color, the font, the art itself – are just beautiful. So of course I have to gush about it.

First off, as I just mentioned, the colors are awesome. I am of the mind that you can make most color combinations work, but you can usually never go wrong with purple and orange and gold. And the cover doesn’t.

Secondly, I adore the title font. Many covers usually have typefaces that don’t look all that unique, but this book is one of those that does the opposite. Not only does it simultaneously stand out and match the rest of the cover art at the same time, but it looks like it has its own identity. The W, two Os, and S in Whom and Tolls are particularly prominent.

And last but not least, the artwork itself is fantastic. I’m a sucker for flowers, and the book cover art features gorgeous purple lilies on the top and bottom borders. I also love the golden gate that they’re twisted around, as well as the sparks and mist swirling around. What a great cover!

So yeah, here’s yet another beautiful book cover. What do you think about this cover art? Have you read For Whom the Belle Tolls? If you have, what did you think of it?

Anyway, as always, thank you for reading, and I hope that you have an excellent day/night!

Wow, it’s been a while since the last time I did this post! Let’s admire another Bewitching Book Cover!

(Erggghhh… This was supposed to come out this past Sunday, and I just noticed that it didn’t post and I accidentally had it scheduled for this coming Sunday. I fixed it though. Ughhhh…)

For anyone who doesn’t know, Bewitching Book Covers (formerly Tasteful Tuesdays, and before that, Majestic Mondays), is a series where I highlight an awesome looking book cover and talk about what I like about it. That’s it, that’s pretty much the point of this post.

This week, the book cover that I’m highlighting is Seven Deadly Thorns by Amber Hamilton!

Seven Deadly Thorns by Amber Hamilton

Seven Deadly Thorns by Amber Hamilton

LENGTH: 369 pages

GENRES: Fantasy, Romance, Young Adult, Fiction

PUBLISHER: Bloomsbury YA

RELEASE DATE: 4 November 2025

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

HER WORST ENEMY. HIS ONLY CHANCE.

Be swept away by the sizzling, irresistible enemies-to-lovers romantasy with magic more destructive than your darkest nightmares.

Book Cover Rating: 🌹🌹🌹🌹 • 4 roses covered in thorns

Once again, here’s another gorgeous book cover. There’s just so many things to love about it – the colors, the contrast, the font. I just enjoy a lot of things about the art here.

The first thing that jumps out to me about the cover of Seven Deadly Thorns is probably the colors. I know, it’s so obvious, duh. But blue is one of my favorite colors, and gold always looks good when put up next to it intermingled with it. It’s just a fact.

Another thing that I really like is the font used for the title. It’s really pretty and I think it really fits the vibe that the cover art is going for. All of the words on the cover being in white is also great, because they really stand out against the bluish background, as well as the golden rose that’s the centerpiece of the whole thing.

Speaking of the rose, it’s absolutely my favorite thing about the book cover. Not only is it a lovely shade of gold, but I love how hand drawn it appears. Having a ring dangling from one of its long, sharp thorns is also a nice touch. But the thing that I adore the most about this part of the cover is definitely how the rose itself interacts with the rest of the cover. The thorns of the rise are actually interwoven with the text of the book’s title itself and I love it. I really enjoy it when parts of covers interact like this – it really makes the cohesiveness of the book cover art come together. And the book cover of Seven Deadly Thorns does it well.

So yeah, here’s yet another beautiful book cover. What do you think about this cover art? Have you read Seven Deadly Thorns? If you have, what did you think of it?

Anyway, as always, thank you for reading, and I hope that you have an excellent day/night!

Birthstone Book Covers: October 2025

Hey everyone and Happy Halloween!! 🎃👻

I’m barely making it, but I’m determined not to miss a month for my favorite monthly post. (This month has been very difficult for me, unfortunately.) So here’s Birthstone Book Covers for October 2025.

Leslie @ Books Are the New Black created a fun monthly post called Birthstone Book Covers. Each month, she features book covers that are either the same color of that month’s birthstone or include the color in the title.

October has two birthstones – Opal and Tourmaline.

This month is sometimes difficult for me, and so many of the covers I end up picking end up being romance novels. I guess that’s what happens when the birthstones of the month are mostly pink and white (I’m not gonna get into opals – they’re weird and complicated when it comes to this kind of post). So I light pink and bright pink covers again.

Rules:

📚 Mention the creator (Leslie @ Books Are The New Black) and link back to her so she can check out your post.
📚 Pick 5+ book covers that match the current month’s Birthstone.
📚 HAVE FUN!
📚 Nominate people if you want!

Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood
So This is Ever After by F.T. Lukens
Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins
Bunny by Mona Awad
Emiko by Chieri Uegaki
The Poisons We Drink by Bethany Baptiste

What are your favorite books with pink and/or white book covers? If you participated in Birthstone Books, which books did you choose this October?

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have the most awesome day/night!

Bewitching Book Covers: Hemlock & Silver

I can’t believe it’s been over two months since I last did this post. Oh well, it can’t be helped, I guess. Anyway, let’s talk about another Bewitching Book Cover.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Bewitching Book Covers (formerly Tasteful Tuesdays, and before that, Majestic Mondays), is a series where I highlight an awesome looking book cover and talk about what I like about it. That’s it, that’s pretty much the point of this post.

This week, the book cover that I’m highlighting is Hemlock & Silver by T. Kingfisher! It’s one of her new novels that was released this year! It also has a gorgeous cover! (Also, I can’t believe I forgot to put What Stalks the Deep on my list of interesting new books coming out September 2025. Like seriously, I really liked the other two Sworn Soldier novellas!)

Hemlock & Silver by T. Kingfisher

Hemlock & Silver by T. Kingfisher

LENGTH: 368 pages

GENRES: Fantasy, Fiction

PUBLISHER: Tor Books

RELEASE DATE: 19 August 2025

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

From New York Times bestselling and Hugo Award-winning author T. Kingfisher comes Hemlock & Silver, a dark reimagining of “Snow White” steeped in poison, intrigue, and treason of the most magical kind

Healer Anja knows little of politics but much of poisons. When she is summoned to treat the mysterious illness afflicting the king’s daughter, she finds herself against the clock, desperate to track down the source of the poison killing Princess Snow. But the chance discovery of a strange alternate world inside a magic mirror leads Anja to darker discoveries, including what really happened to Snow’s dead sister, Rose, and why their mother seemingly went mad and cut out her heart.

Aided by a taciturn bodyguard, a narcissistic cat, and a late Renaissance understanding of the scientific method, Anja must navigate the mysteries of the mirror world before the dark queen that dwells within rises to threaten them all.

Book Cover Rating: 🍎🍎🍎🍎 • 4 definitely not poisoned apples

As I mentioned above, Hemlock & Silver has a beautiful cover. It’s a bit simple, but it definitely has a lot of charm – not to mention, it still stands out.

The background may be a matte black, but I see that as a strength for the book cover. It just makes everything else on it look more distinct. I love that there’s an apple front and center, as well, even if it is a bit on the nose. You can’t have a Snow White reimagining without an apple reference, after all! The apple being surrounded by (presumably) poisonous plants and flowers also further accentuates the reference of said apple. I also just love flowers – even if they’re both gorgeous and deadly at the same time!

The title’s font is simple, yet elegant. I love how it being ivory colored makes it really stand out against everything else on the book’s cover, as well as contrast starkly against the background. The font for the author’s name is also pretty eye-catching. It’s in all caps as well as in light gold. Not quite as prominently as the title, but then I wouldn’t want it to be. (I don’t really like it when the author’s name is significantly bigger than the title – I usually read a book based on its title, cover and description, after all. Not who wrote it. I’m usually more curious about the book itself.)

So yeah, here’s yet another beautiful book cover. What do you think about this cover art? Have you read Hemlock & Silver? If you have, what did you think of it?

Anyway, as always, thank you for reading, and I hope that you have an excellent day/night!

Weekly Wrap-Up: 9/22 – 9/28

Yeah… So this is late. Ugh. This week has been a little rough for me, and the end of last week was kind of the same. There’s just been some stuff going on in my life lately, and even though I still have the time to do blog stuff, my mental health has been struggling. Just a little bit. So please bear with me and my somewhat sparser posting for now.

As I just alluded to, I didn’t post that much last week – only twice. And I haven’t implied anything about what I’ve read concerning books, but it’s also very infrequent, and in regards to last week, nonexistent. I’m already feeling a bit better (hence posting this Weekly Wrap-Up), so hopefully the rest of this week and next week will be better.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get on with the Weekly Wrap-Up!

Wednesday 9/24: Can’t-Wait Wednesday

Last Wednesday, I did another Can’t-Wait Wednesday. Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme currently hosted by Tressa @ Wishful Endings. It focuses on books you’re looking forward to reading, usually new releases.

Friday 9/26: Birthstone Book Covers

On Friday, I participated in Birthstone Book Covers. Birthstone Book Covers is a fun little post created and hosted by Leslie @ Books Are the New Black.

Each month, for the post, you feature book covers that are either the same color of the month’s birthstone or include the color in the title. This month was September, and its birthstone is sapphire. So the color of the month was blue.

Books I Read Last Week

Wrapping It All Up

So yeah, the end of last week and the beginning of this week have been a little bit difficult for me. I’m feeling somewhat better though, as I said, so I’m up for blogging a bit this week. I’m also up for reading books again – I’ve got one cued up and ready to go for tomorrow.

Speaking of reading novels, the one that I’m pretty sure I’m gonna read next is A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro, which is something that’s been on my To Be Read List for quite some time now. Then, I’m planning on finally reading The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah, which was one of my most anticipated new books (and sequels) of 2025. I got it the day it came out and just didn’t end up reading it then for some reason. I dunno guys.

After that, things are a little but more nebulous, but I really want to get back to reading at least a few more of the books in the Dresden Files. And hopefully I’ll be able to start within the next week (after finishing the two books above). After that, maybe a new release or something? I’m not sure yet. I also want to continue on with the next arc of One Piece soon – I’m hoping to be able to begin this before the end of the month, but we’ll see. All my other reading takes priority; I might not get to it until next month.

Regarding posts this week… Well, it’s almost over, so I don’t think I’ll be doing more than two or possibly three. I’m definitely going to do my anticipated new books for October 2025, but I’m less sure about what other post (or posts) I might do. It’s been a while since I’ve done a Bewitching Book Covers, so maybe that one as well. Perhaps I’ll start uploading my Dresden File book reviews before the week is out, too. Who knows what else, though.

For stuff outside books and the blog, there really hasn’t been a lot going on, aside from the personal stuff that I don’t really want to get into. My spouse and I are still trying to be healthier, I guess, but in light of the personal stuff, it’s admittedly taking a slight backseat for now. I want to get back into healthier habits soon, however.

Anyway, as always thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day/night! As well as a much better week than I’ve been having!

See ya ~Mar

Bewitching Book Covers: A Mastery of Monsters

Geez, it’s been forever since I’ve done one of these. Over two months, huh? It’s also been a little bit since I’ve posted in general. I definitely didn’t intend for either of those things to happen, but, oh well. Anyway, let’s get into showing off a Bewitching Book Cover.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Bewitching Book Covers (formerly Tasteful Tuesdays, and before that, Majestic Mondays), is a series where I highlight an awesome looking book cover and talk about what I like about it. That’s it, that’s pretty much the point of this post.

This week, the book cover that I’m highlighting is A Mastery of Monsters by Liselle Sambury. This is a pretty recent release that’s been on my radar for a couple of months.

A Mastery of Monsters by Liselle Sambury

A Mastery of Monsters by Liselle Sambury

SERIES: A Mastery of Monsters #1

LENGTH: 592 pages

GENRES: Fantasy, Young Adult, Fiction

PUBLISHER: Margaret K. McElderry

RELEASE DATE: 29 July 2025

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

Ninth House meets Legendborn in this thrilling first book in a dark academia fantasy series about a teen who’s willing to do anything to find her brother – even infiltrate a secret society full of monsters.

When August’s brother disappears before his sophomore semester, everyone thinks the stress of college got to him. But August knows her brother would never have left her voluntarily, especially not after their mother so recently went missing.

The only clue he left behind was a note telling her to stay safe and protect their remaining family. And after August is attacked by a ten-foot-tall creature with fur and claws, she realizes that her brother might be in more danger than she could have imagined.

Unfortunately for her, the only person with a connection to the mysterious creature is the bookish Virgil Hawthorne… and he knows about them because he is one. If he doesn’t find a partner to help control his true nature, he’ll lose his humanity and become a mindless beast—exactly what the secret society he’s grown up in would love to put down.

Virgil makes a proposition: August will join his society and partner with him, and in return, he’ll help her find her brother. And so August is plunged into a deadly competition to win one of the few coveted candidate spots, all while trying to accept a frightening reality: that monsters are real, and she has to learn to master them if she’s to have any hope of saving her brother.

Book Cover Rating: 🪶🪶🪶🪶 • 4 feathers from a monstrous bird

A Mastery of Monsters has one of the simpler book covers of those that I’ve reviewed previously, but I still enjoy it. It isn’t as simple as other covers I’ve highlighted in this post, either. There’s a lot I like about it either way.

I really like how the background is primarily green. Green is one of my favorite colors, so I’m definitely biased on that front, but I also think it complements the rest of the book cover really well. The title font is also really cool looking, and I love the shade of gold chosen for it. Green and gold also normally go together really well too, and the same is true here.

The bird is centered really nicely, and it being pinned with a pair of knives is also interesting. My favorite thing about this part of the cover art, though, is probably the monstrous bird-like shadow behind the bird. I really like the stuff it’s implying, and it just makes the cover look more awesome.

So yeah, here’s yet another beautiful book cover. What do you think about this cover art? Have you read A Mastery of Monsters? If you have, what did you think of it?

Anyway, as always, thank you for reading, and I hope that you have an excellent day/night!
