Weekly Wrap-Up: 1/5 – 1/11

Annnd another week has passed already. Wow. I’m slightly later than I usually try to be, but I’m not too late with this.

The blog activity was very strong last week. I can’t remember the last time I did six posts in a week (technically seven actually, if you count last week’s Weekly Wrap-Up). Six. And here I was last week saying that I might be slowing down here. What a way to immediately contradict myself. (I might still drop off, though. This was an unusually strong start to the new year.)

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get on with the Weekly Wrap-Up!

Tuesday 1/6: The Most Interesting Looking New Books of January 2026

Last Tuesday, I posted a list of the books that I’m looking forward to this month. Or, at least the ones that I think look the most interesting. It was the The Most Interesting Looking New Books of January 2026. As always, it’s basically only fantasy and science fiction, as those are the two genres I primarily read. This time there were five books on my list.

Wednesday 1/7: The Cat Who Saved Books Review / Can’t-Wait Wednesday

On Wednesday, I finally got around to posting my review for the last book I read in 2025. It was The Cat Who Saved Books by Sosuke Natsukawa. I generally liked it and it wasn’t what I expected it to be. I gave it β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†.

I also participated in another Can’t-Wait Wednesday for the first time in a few weeks. Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme currently hosted by Tressa @ Wishful Endings. It focuses on books you’re looking forward to reading, usually new releases.

Saturday 1/10: December Reading 2025

Last Saturday, I posted my Monthly Reading Wrap-Up for December 2025. Compared to the last couple of months, it was posted at a reasonable time of the month this time around. For those who don’t know, monthly wrap-ups are when I go over the books I read over the past month, as well as my stats over on The StoryGraph

Sunday 1/11: Yearly Reading 2025 / All the Books I Read in 2025

On Sunday, I posted my Yearly Reading Wrap-Up for 2025. (At least the first part.) It was basically a list of my statistics and analytics from The StoryGraph from this past year. There was just as much of it as last year, so I had to split it into two posts again.

I also managed to post the second part of my Yearly Reading Wrap-Up for 2025. The part of the post mostly focused on all the books I read last year, in 2025.

The Books I Read Last Week

Wrapping It All Up

So yeah, there was a lot of blog activity from me last week. I probably won’t keep up that pace, as the reason all of those posts happened like that was because I wanted to get the rest of my end of the last year/beginning of the next year posts out. Hopefully I’ll still be able to put out a decent amount of posts this week, though.

I’m about to start reading The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah. I’m right months late, but I’m finally gonna read it, and I’m pretty excited about it. It was one of my most anticipated new books from last year, after all.

After I’m done with that, I think I’m probably going to read the first volume of Love Me to Death by Toonimated, and then maybe Water Moon and The Elsewhere Express by Samantha Sotto Yambao. Who really knows, though.

For blog posts, I want to participate in at least one or two of the weekly posts that I usually do, and hopefully post a book review. I’m not sure what else I’ll post if anything.

Outside of the blog, my spouse and I have been trying to be healthier again. I’m not quite sure how it’s going so far, but I hope we can find a rhythm with it. I do know that we haven’t started off the year as strong as we’d wanted to.

Anyway, as always thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day/night!

See ya ~Mar

Weekly Wrap-Up: 12/29 – 1/4

Another week, another wrap-up. Here we are, enduring the first full week of 2026. I can’t believe another year is over.

Last week, my blog activity was okay. I did like three posts, which is never a bad amount, but it’s especially good on a holiday week where I’m not able to get a lot of stuff done. My reading was fine too – I managed to get a book in. Yay!

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get on with the Weekly Wrap-Up!

Tuesday 12/30: Top Ten Tuesday

Last Tuesday, I participated in Top Ten Tuesday for the first time in a couple of weeks. Top Ten TuesdayΒ is a weekly post currently hosted byΒ That Artsy Reader Girl.Β It celebrates lovely lists, wonderful books and the bookish community. The prompt for last week wasΒ Most Recent Additions to My Bookshelf.

Wednesday 12/31: New Year’s Eve / End of the Year Book Tag 2026

Wednesday was the last day of 2025. So here’s a late Happy New Year’s Eve!! πŸŽ†πŸŽ‡ I can’t believe that 2025 is actually over – what a crazy bad year it was. Hopefully 2026 is waayyy better!

I also did a Book Tag for the first time in… a year! The last time I did was was New Year’s Eve 2024. Wow! It was the same Book Tag too – theΒ End of the Year Book Tag. It was created byΒ Ariel BissettΒ over at YouTube. There are six questions, and the tag focuses on reflecting on the past year’s reading, as well as looking forward to future reading.

Thursday 1/1: New Year’s Day

Last Thursday was the first day of 2026. Happy New Year’s Day!! πŸ₯‚πŸ»πŸ•›πŸŽ‰ I hope that everyone has had a good start to the year so far! So far mine has been okay. I hope that it gets better and that the year ends up being better than last year was.

Sunday 1/4: To 2026 Post

On Sunday, I did my first post of 2026. It’s the same kind of puar that I usually do – in it, I reflect a little bit on the past year and I talk about my goals for the coming year. It was my To 2026 post.

Books I Read Last Week

Wrapping It All Up

So yeah, I was decently active last week. The end of 2025 was alright, though it could’ve been better. It wasn’t as bad as the last few months have been, though, so it could’ve been worse. My start of 2026 has been okay so far, but I’m hoping that it gets even better.

Once again, I’m not sure what book I’m gonna go for next – I’ve just got so many options that I’m interested in. We’ll see what happens, I guess.

Regarding my blogging for this week… I want to get out my list for the Most Interesting Looking Books of January 2026, a book review, my reading wrap-up for December 2025, and my yearly reading wrap-up for 2025 as a whole.

Concerning stuff outside of books and blogging, it was kind of another relaxing week. Which, I expected, because that’s what we usually do the week of New Year’s. We also watched the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. And it was… okay. The first half of the season was definitely stronger than the second half, and the finale was very meh. It wasn’t the worst season finale I’ve ever seen or heard about, but it was nowhere close to being one of the best finales. And as someone who followed the show for almost ten years – ever since season one came out in 2016 – I wish it was better. It’s also hard to believe it’s finally over.

This coming week we’re going to try to start being healthier. Eating better… being more active… the works. So hopefully it works out and we start the year off strong.

Anyway, as always thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day/night!

See ya ~Mar

To 2026 | Happy New Year πŸ₯‚πŸ“–

Jeez, I can’t believe the new year has already begun. 2025 was crazy in a lot of (mostly bad) ways, and the last few months really flew by. I’m hoping that 2026 is a much better year than last year was!

And yeah, this is later than I usually do this post. Sorry, the latter part of this week was kind of busy.

Once again, I’ve got some goals and a bookish New Year’s resolution for this year. I’m very excited about all of it. Hopefully some of it’ll go better than the last couple of years. Here it comes.

For 2026

For this year… I’m not strongly decided on anything. Last year was just so tough and it was honestly the worst year of my life. And I’m still working on finding my footing from all that had happened.

I’d like to continue with the blog, as I do enjoy it. But I’d also like to try to work on some of my other original writing, and a lot of times after finishing up a post for the Blog That Nobody Knows, I feel like my writing battery has run out. Which is weird, because part of the reason that I started this blog in the first place was because I was trying to get into the mindset for writing more often. I dunno. I still want to try to keep up with this blog, and I probably will, but I might post a little less often.

In 2025, I read 20 books and over 6,000 pages. Which wasn’t nearly as good as my reading in the years before, not to mention I didn’t even come close to my reading goal last year. I’m hoping to do much better than that in 2026 – I’d like to read at least 30 books this coming year. Well, I’d actually like to read one book a week and read 52 books this year, but after last year, I want to take it easier with my reading goal.

List of Goals for 2026

πŸ“š Read 30 books

πŸ“š Keep posting on the blog

πŸ“š Try to read more books outside of fantasy and science fiction

πŸ“š Write and maybe publish a novel – like come on I have so many ideas, I just have to use them

…And that’s kind of all I’ve got for my goals for books and blogging. I do have a few other goals, but they aren’t really relevant to the blog. The other goals are also more related to my personal life, so I’m keeping them to myself.

I definitely want to start to be a more productive and proactive person though. I think I’ve been better about it lately, but I know I could improve even more, so that’s what I want to do. So anyway everybody, cheers to a great 2026 andΒ Happy New Year!! πŸ₯‚πŸŽ†πŸ•›πŸŽ‰

Weekly Wrap-Up: 1/6 – 1/12

I’m a little later than normal, but I’m here with another Weekly Wrap-Up. Ugh. Hopefully this won’t be a common occurrence.

Last week I was able to get out four different posts. Yay! And I’m pretty happy with the posts that I did. Now I finally feel like I’m caught up with all the end of the year/new year stuff. The business of the holidays is also over, which is a relief, honestly.

Anyway, let’s get on with the wrap-up.

Tuesday 1/7: The Most Interesting Books of January 2025

Last Tuesday, I posted a list of the books that I’m looking forward to this month. Or, at least the ones that I think look the most interesting. It was the Most Interesting Looking New Books of January 2025. As always, it’s basically only fantasy and science fiction, as those are the two genres I primarily read. This time I had six books on my list.

Wednesday 1/8: Can’t-Wait Wednesday

On Wednesday, I did another Can’t-Wait Wednesday. It had been a couple of weeks since I last participated, but there’s another upcoming release I’m a interested in.

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme currently hosted by Tressa @ Wishful Endings. It focuses on books you’re looking forward to reading, usually new releases.

Saturday 1/11: 2024 Reading Wrap-Up Part #1

Last Saturday, I finally posted my Yearly Reading Wrap-Up for 2024. (At least the first part.) It mostly consisted of a list of my statistics from The StoryGraph during the past year. There was so much of it, though, that I had to split it into two posts. Yup.

Sunday 1/12: 2024 Reading Wrap-Up Part #2

On Sunday, I posted the second (and final) part of my Yearly Reading Wrap-Up for 2024. The part of the post mostly focused on all the books I read last year, in 2024.

Books I Read Last Week

πŸ’–πŸŽ Wrapping It All Up πŸ’–πŸŽ

So yeah, I’m pretty happy with my posting from last week. Not as happy about the reading (of books) I was able to get done, but hopefully I’ll be better about that this week. There’s a new book coming out that I’m interested in, so I’m optimistic about it.

Last week was also generally more relaxed. I didn’t get a lot of stuff done in general. This week I’m planning on getting some cleaning done, and maybe some other stuff around the house. I’m not sure what else I’m thinking of doing – I don’t really have any other plans for anything.

Anyway, as always, thank you to everyone for reading, and I hope you all have a wonderful day/night!

See ya ~Mar

To 2025 | Happy New Year πŸ₯‚πŸ“–

Wow. It’s been yet another year. I can’t believe it; 2024 really flew by quite quickly. Here’s to 2025 being an even better year than the last! πŸ₯‚πŸ»

Once again, I’ve got some goals and a bookish New Year’s resolution for this year. I’m very excited about all of it. Hopefully some of it’ll go better than the last couple of years. Here it comes.

For 2025

For 2025, I want to continue posting on this blog. I really enjoy it, and it helps encourage me to read a bunch of books. Last year I read over 50 books and over 21,000 pages. Not quite the numbers of 2023 – that year I read 65 books and over 23,000 pages – but it’s still pretty good. Especially if you consider that there are 52 weeks in a year – that means I read at least a book a week!

This year (2025), I want to read at least a book a week for a whole year’s worth again, so at least 52 books. And I want to post more consistently. I know that sometimes I tend to fall off the wayside at several different parts during the year, but I want to try to stop that. I’d like to try to post about 4 times a week on average at least.

List of Goals for 2025

πŸ“š Read a book a week and review them on the blog

πŸ“š Post more consistently on the blog

πŸ“š Try to read more books outside of fantasy and science fiction

πŸ“š WRITE AND PUBLISH MY DAMN NOVEL (like come on Me just work on it already!!) (UGH – I’m so frustrated with myself sometimes)

…Annnd that’s kind of it for my main list of Goals for this year. I have a couple of others, of course, but they’re a bit more personal and basically unrelated to blogging and reading and writing, so I’m keeping them to myself.

I definitely want to start to be a more productive and proactive person though. I think I’m okay about it now, but I know I could be better, do that’s what I want to do. Happy New Year everybody!!Β Cheers to a fantastic 2025!! πŸ₯‚πŸŽ‡πŸ•›πŸŽ‰

Weekly Wrap-Up: 12/23 – 1/1

So. Yeah. I don’t think this is gonna be much of a wrap-up, seeing as I didn’t post at all last week. But I thought that this might get me back into the groove, and we’ve had a few holidays since then, so I have a little bit to talk about.

Anyway, I don’t have anything else to say. So let’s get on with the wrap-up.

Sunday 12/24: Christmas Eve

Merry (very late) Christmas Eve!! πŸ¦ŒπŸŽ…πŸ””πŸ•―οΈ I was baking up a storm the weekend before Christmas, and didn’t have the time or energy to read, unfortunately. But I made a bunch of delicious cookies!

Monday 12/25: Christmas Day

Speaking of which, here’s another very late holiday well wishing for y’all – Merry Christmas!! πŸŽ„πŸŽβ„οΈπŸŒŸ I had a wonderful but busy day, and it was super nice to spend time with family that I only see a couple of times a year. I really missed them. I hope anyone who reads this blog who also celebrates Christmas also had a great holiday.

Sunday 12/31: New Year’s Eve

Here’s yet another late holiday sentiment: Happy New Year’s Eve!! πŸŽ‡πŸŽ† I was unfortunately sick this past weekend, so I didn’t feel up to doing anything, which sucked. But I hope everyone else had a nice last day of 2023!

Monday 1/1: New Year’s Day

For this one, I’m actually not that overdue! Happy New Year!! πŸ₯‚πŸ» Yesterday, I was still under the weather – but this time with something else. My spouse was as well, so we took it easy and had a lazy day relaxing at home. I hope everyone has had a great start to 2024 so far, regardless!

πŸ’–πŸŽ Wrapping It All Up πŸ’–πŸŽ

So yeah, I haven’t done anything regarding the blog since right before Christmas, but my spouse has been off work and I’ve been distracted. That, and de-stressing from all the stuff I did to prepare for Christmas. And then of course, I got sick, and am still sick (though I’m feeling a little better, which is why I’m finally posting).

For the rest of the week, I still wanna relax a bunch and spend a lot of time with my spouse since they’re still off work. So I probably won’t be posting much this week, but hopefully I’ll post at least a couple of times. I’m also hoping to get back into reading – I hit quite the slump in December.

Anyway, thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have an excellent day/night!

See ya ~Mar

To 2023 | Happy New Year πŸ₯‚πŸ“–

We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine.
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.

Auld Lang Syne; Verse III

Well, it’s once again been another year. Goodbye 2022: you were a pretty good one (at least for the second half). Here’s to 2023 being much better, for all of us.

I’ve got some goals and a bookish New Year’s resolution for this year. I’m very excited about all of it. Here it is.

2023 Resolution

Last year (wow, it’s still so weird to say that!) I finally really started putting effort into this blog. I’d kind of had it for around a year already, but I never did anything with it and it was empty. But a few months ago I really started doing stuff with it, and I’ve never felt so satisfied. I love reading and writing, and having a place to really gab about it has been amazing.

But this year, I want to do more with it. This has pretty much been a book blog, and it’s definitely gonna stay a book blog – I just want to post on it more consistently, and just more in general. I was doing very well for the first six or seven weeks I was doing it, but it kind of fell on the wayside at the end of the year. I want to rectify that. I want to get back that passion and consistency that I had for the first while.

I also want to read more books this year. And meet my reading goal. Last year, my reading goal on Goodreads was originally 20 books, because I was very busy at the beginning of the year, and was under an ungodly amount of stress and anxiety. But then, after everything settled down a bit, I got overconfident and bumped it up to 30 books when I started reading a lot in the second quarter of 2022.

(I shouldn’t have done that. Lol.)

I ended up falling just a few books short of my goal for last year. That’s not gonna happen this time. So, this year, I’m once again going to set my reading goal to 30 books on Goodreads and I’m going to meet it – even go beyond it, hopefully. And that means more blog posts about books I’ve read!

So, my official New Year’s resolution for 2023 is to read 30+ books and post on the blog more (consistently). Oh, and also, publish my first novel. So, I have two resolutions this year!

List of Goals for 2023

πŸ“š Read 30+ books and review them on the blog (part of my first resolution)

πŸ“š Post more (consistently) on the blog (part of my first resolution)

πŸ“š Try to read out of my comfort zone (I’ve honestly already started doing that some, but it can’t hurt to try even more kinds of books!)

πŸ“š Really started writing and then editing my first novel (I have a lot of ideas dispersed between a several page Word document for my older stuff, and several Google Docs files for the newer stuff. It’s time I actually did stuff with it.)

πŸ“š Publish my first novel in 2023 (I know, very ambitious, since I haven’t really even started writing it yet) (my second resolution)

πŸ“š Take better care of Myself emotionally (I’ve gotten much better at this during this past year, but I still feel that I could improve even further)

…Annnd, that’s all I can really think of for now. The resolutions are set and will not change, but I can always add to and adjust my other goals. I hope – No, I’m going to be more proactive with this blog this year. So, see you guys on the flip side for the next (bookish) post. Happy New Year everybody!! Cheers to a fantastic 2023!! πŸ₯‚πŸŽ‡
