I’m on time this week! Yay!

Not much to say this time. I posted three times which I’m fine with, even though I did do a book review. I’ll do that ASAP. I finished another book though, which is always a good thing. Especially since I seem to be in an on-and-off slump this year so far.

Books I Read Last Week

So yeah, last week was pretty good all around, though I think it could have been better. I’m happy with it though.

This week I wanna do a couple of my usual weekly posts, but I especially want to get my review out for Impossible Creatures. I’m hoping to do that in the next couple days. I also want to read either Behooved or finally start The Ashfire King. (Regardless, I’m planning on reading The Ashfire King before the month is out.)

Outside of my diet, nothing else has really been going on the past week with my life outside the blog and books. The weather has been really nice throughout the last week, though.

Weekly Wrap-Up: 5/5 – 5/11

It’s a day late, but the last couple days have either been busy or slightly rough. But doing a Weekly Wrap-Up on a Tuesday isn’t completely unreasonable, and I’ve already done it several times, so I’m not that annoyed.

Anyway, last week I got out the two posts that I was really angling for, so I’m very satisfied with my blog activity last week. The only thing I wish I was able to do was a book review, but I haven’t finished the book I’m reading yet, which is why I didn’t get one done last week.

Sunday 5/11: Mother’s Day

Though I didn’t manage a post this past weekend, Sunday was Mother’s Day!! 🌸🌼 I hope that everyone who wanted to had the opportunity to spend time with their mom this weekend. We met for breakfast at one of my aunts’ houses mom’s side of the family, and spent the afternoon hanging out with my husband’s immediate family. It was a nice day.

So yeah, my productivity definitely improved last week, both with my reading and my blog posts. I’d still like to do better this week, however, and do another post during the weekend. I haven’t really posted on a Saturday or Sunday lately, and I’d like to rectify that.

Regarding the coming week, I want to finish Impossible Creatures and do a book review on it. Then I want to start reading a new book, though I’m a little undecided on whether it’ll be one of my anticipated books of May 2025 or The Ashfire King next. Regardless, I’m determined to read The Ashfire King sometime this month. I’d also like to do my favorite monthly post this week, too, as well as a couple of my usual weekly posts.

As for stuff outside the blog and books, I’ve been continuing my diet of course, and it’s been going really well. But my spouse and I have been pretty interested in Blue Prince lately, a roguelike puzzle adventure game that released about a month ago. I personally haven’t played it myself, as I’m pretty sure that I have the patience for roguelikes, but I have watched other people do so, and my spouse has really enjoyed what they’ve played of the game. My spouse has found the secret room, reached the credits and explored a great deal of the manor and it’s grounds before finding the room and a little after – so they’re probably at least 30% through the game.

I’ve definitely very much enjoyed what I’ve seen myself of the game, and especially love the story and how you discover it through your exploration. And I adore the ending when you find the secret 46th room (it’s not a spoiler because the game tells you this is your goal from the outset). I also really enjoyed and think the puzzles are super awesome and creative. It’s such a fantastic game and more than deserves all of the accolades it’s been getting.

So last week was, uh… Yeah, it wasn’t the best. I didn’t read or post as much as I’d have liked. So this wrap-up is gonna be one of the shorter ones.

Saturday 5/3: The Ascendance Series Books 1, 2 & 3 Review

On Saturday, I finally, finally, posted my review for the first three books in the Ascendance Series. This review was really hard for me get out for whatever reason, and is probably the reason why my activity on the blog took a dive last week. Because I had trouble getting into the writing of it.

As a whole, I thought that what I read of the series was pretty decent. I found it to be a decently written middle grade fantasy-adventure trilogy of books (and it was originally a trilogy, before the author went back and wrote a couple more books for it several years after it was first published). I have the three books altogether ★★★✯☆.

So yeah, my productivity concerning the blog as well as reading books was pretty shot last week. I’m really hoping to do better this week.

Regarding the coming week, for the blog I want to publish my April Reading Wrap-Up for 2025, and I definitely want to get out my list of most interesting new book releases for May 2025, the latter as soon as possible. I’m also hoping to do at least one of my other weekly posts, as well as a book review.

For books and reading, I have a book that I’m borrowing from my mother-in-law to read – Impossible Creatures – and I have to read that like right now. Cuz there’s kind of a waiting list in the family (my spouse wants to read it after me, and then my sister-in-law and my father-in-law), and I don’t want to hold it up. Then I’ll finally read The Ashfire King – I would’ve been reading it already if not for the family waiting list for the other book.

For the stuff outside the blog and reading, nothing else is really going on except for my diet. Which has been going on for almost a month now, which I’m happy about. Oh! My sibling did get a house a few weeks ago and is closing on it this week. So that’s cool.

So yeah, even though I didn’t get to posting that book review that I really wanted to finally get to or read any books really, I’m still happy with my blog activity from last week. Yeah, I would have rather been able to do four blog posts (and have one of those be a review), but I’m still content with at least doing three.

As for this coming week, I have two main goals. Firstly, to finally finish that freaking review for the first three books in Jennifer A. Nielsen’s Ascendance series and post it. And secondly, to start and finish a new novel (specifically The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah). My smaller goals for the week are just to do some of my usual weekly blog posts.

Concerning stuff outside the blog… I don’t really have anything going on. I’m still continuing with my diet, but that’s really about it, honestly. I don’t really have anything to really bring up.

Sunday 4/20: Easter Sunday

On Sunday, I actually didn’t post anything on the blog. But it was Easter. So to those who celebrate, Happy Easter!! 🐇🐤🧺🥚 We had a nice afternoon spending time with family – for us it’s one of the few times of the year when everyone is able to get together, so it’s important to me for pretty much that reason alone. There was also a lot of good food for dinner and some wonderful desserts.

So yeah. This past week wasn’t the best for the blog, activity-wise, but I did do more reading in a week than I have been doing for the past couple of months. So I’m counting that as a win. I’m hoping to do better with the blog this week however, even though I got a late start. 🤞🍀

Regarding this coming week, I’m definitely going to post my reading wrap-up for March 2025. It’s later than I wanted to, but oh well. I’m not totally sure what other posts I’ll do – probably just some of the normal weekly stuff. For reading; I’ll probably read the sequel to The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen, The Runaway King. Even though I don’t think I really liked the first one, I’m gonna give it one more shot, cuz it’s middle grade and I have to up my book count. My reading of books has been terrible so far this year.

Top Ten Tuesday: Spring TBR

Whoops, it’s been a couple of weeks. Oh well, Happy Tuesday everybody!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly post currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It celebrates lovely lists, wonderful books and the bookish community. This week’s topic is Books on My Spring 2025 to-Read List. And… I think it’s pretty self explanatory, haha.

I have a lot of books that I’ve acquired recently. Firstly, because the holiday season was just a few months ago and I got several books for Christmas. And also because I went to a book fair a few weeks before that where they were practically giving the books away, so I accumulated several there. So yeah, who knows which of everything I’m eventually going to end up reading, but several of these novels are on my TBR nonetheless.

So anyway, in no particular order (because I don’t really have a planned order of reading most of these), here are the books on my spring TBR!

Luminous by Silvia Park: I’m not sure when exactly I’ll read this, but I’m hoping in the next month or so. This one looked interesting to me.
The Keeper of Lonely Spirits by E.M. Anderson: I’m not super sure when I’ll read this one either, but I’d also like to read it in the next month.
The Bones Beneath My Skin by TJ Klune: I’d definitely like to get to this one sometime this spring.
A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallero: I’d actually been planning to read this one earlier this year in like January or February, but it didn’t happen. It’s also one of the books I got during the holidays. Now I’m not sure when I’ll get to it, but it’s still on my more immediate TBR, so…
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas: This one has been on my To Be Read Pile for forever. Like, at least a year or two. Hopefully I’ll at least get started on this book by Easter, but I’m definitely planning on finally knocking out the Crescent City novels sometime this year.
Flamecaster by Cinda Williams Chima: This is something I’m going to read very soon, actually. It’ll probably even be what I read next. I’m feeling nostalgic for The Seven Realms quadrilogy, so what better to read than its sequel series?
The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah: I really enjoyed The Stardust Thief when I read it a couple years ago, and I’ve been watching for the sequel ever since.
A Crown of Ivy and Glass by Claire Legrand: This is another book that I’m not sure when I’ll get to. I’m hoping sooner rather than later, however.
The Wren in the Holly Library by K.A. Linde: This is another novel I got during the holidays. I’m not sure when I’ll get to it, but like the rest of the books here, I’d like to read it sometime this spring.
Drwgonfall by L.R. Lam: Once again, yet another novel on my To Be Read Pile that I’m not sure when I’ll get to. Hopefully soon, though.

So yeah, last week definitely could’ve been better, but it was an improvement on the week before, at least concerning the blog. I’m hoping to do at least four posts this week though; two or three additional blog posts aside from the Weekly Wrap-Up just never feels like enough.

This week I’m definitely going to finish the new Emily Wilde book and review it. Hopefully I’ll start reading another book as well, as I’ve got so many new ones to read, what with my moderately recent hauls.

Regarding stuff outside the blog… Last week was Valentine’s Day. It was pretty enjoyable – my spouse and I had a good time doing our usual things. Concerning this coming week… I’m hoping to do some stuff around the house.

Yesterday, I – for the first time in a while – did another Bewitching Book Covers post. Bewitching Book Covers (formerly known as Majestic Mondays and Tasteful Tuesdays), is when I gush over a book cover that I like and analyze it (sometimes). It’s something I (clearly) haven’t done in a while, but really want to get back into doing.

So yeah, I was really happy with my posting for last week. Here’s to hoping that I can keep it up this week as well! That, and read more books. I wish I would’ve read more last week! 🍀🤞

Regarding what I want to read next on my TBR: I’ve decided to read This is How You Lose the Time War next, and then probably A Study in Charlotte. They’re shorter books, and I’d like to up my book count up for January as much as I can, what with my abysmal reading so far this month and with ur being so close to the end of the month.

Concerning my life beyond books and the blog… not too much is going on still. I have started doing more home cooking finally, though. Last week I tried a couple of new recipes, and I’ve baked a couple of things over the last couple of weeks, as well. I’m really happy with doing this, and I really hope I keep at it. I’m kind of afraid it’s just going to be another thing I drop after a bit, and that’s not really something I want. 🍗🍳🥐🍪
