I’m a little later than I’d like to be with this wrap-up, but it isn’t as bad as the last two months, so I’m fine with it. But yeah, here’s my reading wrap-up for December 2025! I still can’t believe that 2025 is over and a new year has started!
December was pretty decent. It’s not my best month of 2025, but I read two books, which is better than most of the months last year, not to mention some of the Decembers of the past. So I’ll take it as a win.
Anyway, letโs just start talking about my StoryGraph statistics from last month!
December Reading 2025
I read 2 books and 438 pages
๐ถ MOODS: I had three Moods in December, which is one more than the month before. The Moods from this past month were: Adventurous, Hopeful, and Reflective.
๐ข PACE: The books I read last month were both medium-paced.
๐ข PAGE NUMBER: The novels I read were between 198 and 240 pages.
๐ FICTION/NONFICTION: It was once again all fiction. As usual.
๐ญ GENRES: There were a bunch of Genres on the graph this month, and I’m really happy about it. They were: Fantasy, Science Fiction, Magical Realism, Young Adult, LGBT+, and Graphic Novel.
๐ FORMAT: This pie chart was correct again this time. Both books I read were physical copies.
โญ RATING: My median star rating for last month was 4.5
๐ PAGES READ DAILY: My reading was pretty divided in December. I read a lot during the first week, didn’t read anything at all for the next couple of weeks, and then I read some during the last couple of days of the month.
So yeah, my reading in December wasn’t too bad. I managed to keep up the same pace of the two months preceding it, and end the year in a decent way in regards to reading. I’m also happy that I enjoyed the last couple of books that I read last year. It felt like leaving on a high note.
Regarding what I want to read next, I’m in between The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah and waiting for a book to be released in the next few days and reading that. I also would like to read Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao, as well as her new book also coming out this month. I’m not sure what I’m going to end up choosing next, though. We’ll see.
Anyway, as always, thank you for joining me in checking out my StoryGraph stats for my December reading in 2025. Thank you also for reading, and I hope you have a great day/night!
I’m a little later than usual with this, but not too late. These last few weeks have just been flying by, as they usually do, and I’ve been a little busier since it’s the holiday season. But I still want to wrap up the past week.
Last week, I managed to post more than I usually do during the week of Christmas. I’m not quite sure how, though. These two weeks around Christmas and New Year’s are always a little rough like that. But I did it somehow, and I’d at least like to match the number of posts from last week during this week. I also didn’t really read last week, but I’m not surprised or annoyed about that. I can’t remember the last time I was reading a book over the week of Christmas – it’s just not something I really do because it’s busy.
Anyway, without further ado, letโs get on with the Weekly Wrap-Up!
Wednesday 12/24: Christmas Eve
ย
Last Wednesday was the day before Christmas. So, to everyone who celebrates, here’s a belated Merry Christmas Eve!! ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ฏ๏ธ I didn’t really bake any cookies on this day this year like a normally do, but I still had a wonderful time with my spouse and dinner with my family. (I did do some baking this year, it was just on the Saturday before Christmas and one batch of Christmas Day itself. Christmas Eve just wasn’t the day this year.)
Thursday 12/25: Christmas Day / Birthstone Book Covers
ย
On Thursday, I managed to squeeze a post out, so I got to wish everyone well on Christmas. But since I’m wrapping up the week, I’ll say it again: Merry Christmas!! ๐๐โ๏ธ๐ I hope that everyone who celebrates had a great holiday. I spent more time with my family and some time with my husband’s family and it was really nice.
I was also able to post something before the day was out last Thursday. I participated in Birthstone Book Covers at a more reasonable time for the first time in months. Birthstone Book Coversย is a fun little post created and hosted byย Leslie @ Books Are the New Black.
Each month, for the post, you feature book covers that are either the same color of the monthโs birthstone or include the color in the title. This month was December, and its birthstones are tanzanite, zircon and turquoise. So the colors are all different shades of blue and cyan.
Last Friday, I participated in First Line Fridays again. Two weeks in a row – almost a streak! First Line Fridaysย is a weekly feature for book lovers (formerly) hosted byย Wandering Words.ย Itโs where you guess what book the post is highlighting based on the bookโs first words.
Sunday 12/28: The Glass Scientists: Volume Three Review
ย
On Sunday, I finally got my review out for the final volume of The Glass Scientists by S.H. Cotugno. And now I’m all caught up on my reviews! But yeah, I really enjoyed this story, both in its original form of a webcomic (that’s still finishing up) and the three graphic novels that came out of it, with their extra stuff. This was such a great reimagining of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Like the first two volumes, I gave it โ โ โ โ โ .
So yeah, I ended up being more active on the blog than I thought I would, but my novel reading was pretty much the same as it usually is around Christmas – nearly non-existent. Oh well, maybe next year I’ll actually read around the holiday for once. We’ll see, I guess.
I’ve actually managed to pick a book to read next and I’m almost done with it. You’ll see what it is when I review it, hopefully later this week. After I’m done with it, though, I’m not sure which novel I’ll go with next. It’s still between most of the same books as it’s been, however.
For blogging this week, I want to get my end of the year post out, as well as either my December 2025 reading wrap-up or my list for the Most Interesting Looking Books of January 2026. And at least one more post to match last week’s amount of posting.
ย
Regarding stuff outside books and blogging, it was pretty much just relaxing and Christmas stuff last week. Basically, what I expected, because it is the usual for that week. My spouse and I will focus on being healthier after the New Year. For now, it’s just holidays and relaxing.
Anyway, as always thank you for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day/night!
Witness the epic conclusion to the webcomic phenomenon about star-crossed lovers and misunderstood monsters in this third and final graphic novel!
Last we saw Dr. Jekyll he was on stage about to welcome everyone to his grand exhibitionโthe event meant to save his Society for Arcane Sciences and his way of lifeโwhen he collapsed, pulled under by his devilish alter ego Mr. Hyde. When he wakes, Jekyll assumes everything is doomed, but in a surprise to just about everyone, he couldnโt be more wrong. The event was a success, his band of rogue scientists now all have patrons, and business is booming. Whatโs more, he even plucks up the courage to do the scariest, craziest thing of all: confess his feelings for Lanyon. Everything is finally coming up Jekyll!
Oh, if only the good scientist remembered his physics, because what goes up must inevitably come crashing down. Just when everything Jekyll has worked and hoped for is finally within his grasp, the barrier between his dueling personalities is shattered. Both Jekyll and Hyde are thrown into a constant wrestling for control of both their minds and bodies, which seem to switch without rhyme or reason. In the chaos, Jekyllโs secret has never been more at risk of being exposed, and he wonโt get any help concealing it from his other half. Hyde has finally gotten a taste of life as a free man, and if Jekyll (or anyone else) dares to take it away, well, we should all brace for impact.
My Review
ย
“Will you please… help me save the Society?”
Yes! I’m finally posting this review! And then I’ll be all caught up on my book reviews and stuff!
Anyway, as with the other two volumes of this graphic novel, I really enjoyed The Glass Scientists: Volume Three. It concluded the very well-done retelling of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde that Cotugno started years ago in a very satisfying way. I won’t spoil anything, but I will say that the ending here is definitely different from the story this is based on.
Everything I said in my review of volume one of this comic still stands, regarding some of the plot and especially the characters. So I’m not going to really talk about them as much because I feel that I’d be being a little redundant there. A lot of the stuff I said in my review of volume two can also be applied here, but so much of Volume Three builds on a lot of the set up in the last couple of chapters of Volume Two in particular, so I’ll be talking about that more. (Not that anything isn’t set up in Volume One but… you know.)
In this volume of The Glass Scientists, everything between Jekyll and Hyde is finally coming to a head. Lanyon and Jekyll’s slow-burn romance finally culminates here, and it’s lovely while it lasts. Because after that everything kind of starts to unravel. And it’s a wild emotional ride to the end from there. I touched on the angst that starts in Volume Two. Well, it’s in full force here. Jekyll and Hyde have a lot of shit to sort out, and said sorting out is what takes up most of the pagetime in this volume. And it’s awesome.
The art is still amazing and I really enjoy it. I really like the author’s art style in general, actually. And, of course, there’s extra stuff here like in the other two volumes. And I loved it. Cotugno not only gives us insights to their creative process and development of their characters, but also provides us with an open-ended epilogue that was very good.
So yeah, I’m sorry if I’m not talking about the plot or characters as much as I usually do in my reviews, but this is Volume Three in a graphic novel and I don’t want to spoil too much. The Glass Scientists is a solid retelling of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde though, and I loved all of the references to other stuff written in the 19th century. I still super enjoyed this volume and definitely recommend it to fans of volumes one and two, gaslamp fantasy, comics and graphic novels and the original novel The Glass Scientists is inspired by.
As always, thank you to everyone so much for reading, and I hope you have an awesome day/night!
Hey there everybody! Another month, another bunch of new books that are coming out! Yep, itโsย The Most Intriguing New Books of December 2025.ย I know pretty late in the month this time โ I generally like to get it out by the first Tuesday of the month โ but thereโs been a lot going on in the recent weeks, and Iโm just now trying to get back into things.
This used to be a quarterly post, but Iโve recently decided to do itย monthly instead.ย Also, even though this post is about new releases, itโs primarily focused on fantasy and science fiction, as those are the genres I tend to prefer to read. (Not to say other genres wonโtย everย appear on these lists โ it just isnโt super likely; itโs likely to be a very rare occurrence if it happens at all.)
If youโve seen this post by me before, you know the drill; Iโm onlyย interestedย in these books โ thereโs no guarantee that Iโm gonna read all of them. Thereโs not even a guarantee that Iโm gonna read even half of them. We shall see. Anyway, letโs get going! This month, four books have caught my eye! Yay! A decent number, this time around! No more threes!

As always, thank you all so much for reading, and I hope you have a great day/night!
Here I am. Doing my due diligence with posting my September reading wrap-up for 2024 at a reasonable time in October. By which I mean within the first week. Yay!
I’m very happy with the reading I was able to do last month, and not just because I read (and finished) more books than I did in August. It just felt like I read a good amount of novels and that feeling is good enough for me. And I enjoyed all the books that I read in September, too, which is the best part about it.
But yeah, without further ado, letโs get into my StoryGraph statistics from last month!
September Reading 2024
I read 5 books and 2,299 pages
ย
๐ MOODS: The reading Moods for September were fewer than in August, but there were still five of them. Adventurous was of course the biggest chunk of the pie chart. The second biggest slice is Lighthearted, which I’m not sure has happened before. The other three Moods were Tense, Mysterious and Funny.
๐ข PACE: My books from last month were mostly fast paced, but around a quarter of them were slow paced.
๐ข PAGE NUMBER: Everything I read was between 240 and 672 pages.
๐ FICTION/NONFICTION: It was once again all fiction in September. As is my usual.
ย
๐ญ GENRES: There were less Genres in September than there were in August. Fantasy was the Genre I read there most of, which is always the case. The other four genres were Young Adult, Manga, Middle Grade and LGBT+. (BTW, in case you were wondering, the genre vs. demographic thing still bugs me.)
๐ FORMAT: This particular pie graph is once again wrong. (As it always is.) Almost all the books I read were physical copies, but one novel was digital.
โญ RATING: My median star rating for last month was 4.35. The ratings I gave were between 3.35 stars and 5.0 stars, so yeah.
๐ PAGES READ DAILY: I read a lot during the last two thirds of September. My biggest reading spike of the month was the 23rd, though my reading on the 19th and the 20th were nearly as high. I also read books between the 11th and the 17th, as well as between the 26th and the 28th.
So yeah, I’m pretty satisfied with the stuff I read during September. It was a good month for me this year – and not just because a new Legend of Zelda game came out. The books that I did read, I liked, which is unfortunately something that doesn’t always happen.
I’m not sure what my reading is gonna look like for October this time. I think it’s gonna be more than last month, though, even though I’ve hardly read at all this past week. (Sorry, whenever a new Zelda game comes out, it usually takes up most of my attention for at least a week. That’s just how it is and I’m totally fine with it! ๐๐ฎ) It’s ’cause I have plans to read specific books this month, and there are more of them than what I read in September. So that’s why. But we’ll see what ends up happening.
Anyway, thanks for joining me in checking out my StoryGraph stats for my September reading in 2024. Thank you also for reading, and I hope you have an wonderful day/night!

My Review
ย
“Who are you, Mr. Hyde?”
As I mentioned in my review for volume one, I absolutely love this comic. And that hasn’t changed at all with the second one. The Glass Scientists is still amazing. Sage is still going incredibly strong with their retelling of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Everything I said in my previous review for this graphic novel still stands, so I’m not going to talk much about the story and the characters, as I feel it’s a little redundant. But! The way that the story and characters evolve during this installment is sooo good. And the angst begins here – though it hasn’t even gotten close to the way it is currently in the original webcomic. (It’s getting real, guys. These last few weeks – oh boy.)
There’s also a bit of a slow-burn starting to happen between Jekyll and Lanyon at the point of the comic that volume two covers, and it’s wonderfully written. (And it’s gonna make the angst coming up so much sweeter.) We also learn a lot of interesting things about several characters, and Jekyll and Hyde’s relationship is currently deteriorating beautifully. I can’t get enough of this world.
And of course, the art is still gorgeous. S.H. Cotugno is a fantastic artist with a lot of experience and it definitely shows. I enjoy their art style quite a bit. Oh! And I almost forgot, I loved the little extra added here (that being the little prequel story). I loved the one added to the last installment too, but in a different way.
So yeah, I realize that I didn’t really have as much to say about The Glass Scientists this time around, but I both didn’t want to spoil anything nor be redundant. Rest assured, I still super enjoyed this volume and definitely recommend it to fans of volume one, gaslamp fantasy, comics and graphic novels and the original Strange Case novel.
This book is also perfect for the upcoming spooky season, so if it sounds intriguing to you, I’d give it a shot. The vibes are excellent for October.
And, as always, thank you to everyone so much for reading, and I hope you have an awesome day/night!
Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! I’m back a second week in a row because there’s another book I’m really looking forward to coming out soon.
Canโt-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Tressa @ Wishful Endings (and was previously hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine where it was known as Waiting on Wednesday) to spotlight and discuss the books weโre excited about that we have yet to read. Theyโre usually books that have not yet been released.
This weekโs book is:
The Glass Scientists: Volume Two by S.H. Cotugno! ๐งช๐งซ
I’ve been following TGS’s ongoing webcomic version since last year, and I thoroughly enjoyed the physical copy of Volume One – which was comprised of the first third of the intended story. I’m always ready for a retelling, and I love The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and this was an excellent one. I love the next part of the story, and am so excited to get a physical version of it.

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Magicians trilogy returns with a triumphant reimagining of the King Arthur legend for the new millennium.
A gifted young knight named Collum arrives at Camelot to compete for a spot on the Round Table, only to find that heโs too late. The king died two weeks ago at the Battle of Camlann, leaving no heir, and only a handful of the knights of the Round Table survive.
They arenโt the heroes of legend, like Lancelot or Gawain. Theyโre the oddballs of the Round Table, from the edges of the stories, like Sir Palomides, the Saracen Knight, and Sir Dagonet, Arthurโs fool, who was knighted as a joke. Theyโre joined by Nimue, who was Merlinโs apprentice until she turned on him and buried him under a hill. Together this ragtag fellowship will set out to rebuild Camelot in a world that has lost its balance.
But Arthurโs death has revealed Britainโs fault lines. God has abandoned it, and the fairies and monsters and old gods are returning, led by Arthurโs half-sister Morgan le Fay. Kingdoms are turning on each other, warlords lay siege to Camelot and rival factions are forming around the disgraced Lancelot and the fallen Queen Guinevere. It is up to Collum and his companions to reclaim Excalibur, solve the mysteries of this ruined world and make it whole again. But before they can restore Camelot theyโll have to learn the truth of why the lonely, brilliant King Arthur fell, and lay to rest the ghosts of his troubled family and of Britainโs dark past.
The first major Arthurian epic of the new millennium, The Bright Sword is steeped in tradition, full of duels and quests, battles and tournaments, magic swords and Fisher Kings. It also sheds a fresh light on Arthurโs Britain, a diverse, complex nation struggling to come to terms with its bloody history. The Bright Sword is a story about imperfect men and women, full of strength and pain, who are looking for a way to reforge a broken land in spite of being broken themselves.

Yet when sheโs chosen to wed the crown prince, Yingโs dreams of a fairy tale marriage quickly fall apart. Her husband-to-be is cold and indifferent, confining Ying to her room for reasons he wonโt explain. Worse still are the rumors that swirl around the imperial palace: whispers of seven other royal brides who, after their own weddings, mysteriously disappeared.
Left alone with only her own reflection for company, Ying begins to see things. Strange things. Movements in the corners of her mirror. Colorful lights upon its surface. And when, on the eve of her wedding, she unwittingly tears open a gateway, she is pulled into a mirror world.
This realm is full of sentient reflections, including the enigmatic Mirror Prince. Unlike his real-world counterpart, the Mirror Prince is kind and compassionate, and before long Ying falls in loveโthe kind of love she always dreamed of.
But there is darkness in this new world, too.
It turns out the two worlds have a long and blood-soaked history, and Ying has a part to play in the future of them both. And the brides who came before Ying? By the time they discovered what their role was, it was already too late.

A dance to the death. A girl whoโs just as monstrous as H.H. Holmes. A hallway thatโs constantly changingโand hungry. All of these stories exist in the same placeโwithin the frame of a particular house that isnโt bound by the laws of time and space.
Following in the footsteps of dark/horror-filled YA anthologies like His Hideous Heart and Slasher Girls and Monster Boys, and Netflixโs ground-breaking adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House, this YA speculative fiction anthology explores how the permanence of a home can become a space of transition and change for both the inhabitants and the creatures who haunt them.
Each story in the anthology will focus on a different room in the house and feature unique takes on monsters from a wide array of cultural traditions. Whether itโs a demonic Trickster, a water-loving Rusalka, or a horrifying, baby-imitating Tiyanak, thereโs bound to be something sinister lurking in the shadows.

In this highly anticipated second book in the Talents Trilogy, the world of the dead is closer than you think.
Agrigento, Sicily, 1883. With the orsine destroyed, Cairndale lies in ruins, and Marlowe has vanished. His only hope of rescue lies in a fabled second orsineโlong-hidden, thought lostโwhich might not even exist.
But when a body is discovered in the shadow of Cairndale, a body wreathed in the corrupted dust of the drughr, Charlie and the Talents realize there is even more at stake than they’d feared. For a new drughr has arisen, ferocious, horned, seemingly able to move in their world at willโand it is not alone. A malevolent figure, known only as the Abbess, desires the dust for her own ends. And deep in the world of the dead, a terrible evil stirsโan evil that the corrupted dust just might hold the secret to reviving or destroying forever.
So the dark journey begun in Ordinary Monsters surges forward, from the sinister underworld of the London exiles, to the mysteries of a sunlit villa in nineteenth-century Sicily, to the deep catacombs hidden under Paris. Against bone witches, mud glyphics, and a house of twilight that exists in a netherworld all its own, the Talents must work togetherโif they are to have any hope of staving off the world of the dead, and saving their long-lost friend.

In his continuing quest to earn college recommendation letters from the gods, Percy has to pet sit the goddess Hecateโs polecat and giant mastiff during Halloween week. What could go wrong?
Rick Riordanโs newest Percy Jackson adventure is full of hilarious set pieces, a diverse cast of gods and monsters, and many other delightful tricks and treats.
Percy Jackson, now a high school senior, needs three recommendation letters from the Greek gods in order to get into New Rome University. He earned his first one by retrieving Ganymedeโs chalice. Now the goddess Hecate has offered Percy another โopportunityโโall he has to do is pet sit her polecat, Gale, and mastiff, Hecuba, over Halloween week while she is away. Piece of cake, right?
Percy, Annabeth, and Grover settle into Hecateโs seemingly endless mansion and start getting acquainted with the fussy, terrifying animals. The trio has been warned not to touch anything, but while Percy and Annabeth are out at school, Grover canโt resist drinking a strawberry-flavored potion in the laboratory. It turns him into a giant frenzied goat, and after he rampages through the house, damaging everything in sight, and passes out, Gale and Hecuba escape. Now the friends have to find Hecateโs pets and somehow restore the house, all before Hecate gets back on Saturday. Itโs going to take luck, demigod wiles, and some old and new friends to hunt down the animals and set things right again.
So yeah, these are all of the books coming out in the next three months that Iโm interested in possibly reading. What books are coming out soon that youโre looking forward to? Do we share some of the same ones?
(Also, if you ever have trouble finding a good list of new releases to scour for new books to read (and this includes genres beyond sci-fi and fantasy), I usually check this website called Book Birds. It typically has a pretty complete list and is frequently where I find at least a few things to add to my TBR and for my Most Anticipated Reads posts.)
Thank you all so much for reading, and I hope you have an amazing day/night!

I don’t think I’ve ever posted a monthly wrap-up on the first of the month yet. Or maybe I’m wrong? I don’t know, and it doesn’t matter much. It’s time to begin the October Reading 2023 Wrap-Up!
I read so, so, so much during this past month. It’s my bookish peak of the year so far! I’m so happy with myself – I don’t think I’ve ever read 13 books all in the same month before! I guess this just shows that autumn really is my favorite reading season, huh?
But yeah, without further ado, let’s get on into my statistics from The StoryGraph from last month!
October 2023 Reading
I read 13 books and 5439 pages
๐ MOODS:Adventurous was the biggest slice of pie, as it always is. Lighthearted was surprising in being the second biggest piece though – it’s never been before. The other ones were: Funny, Emotional, Dark, and Mysterious.
๐ข PACE: I read all three different kinds of paced books: slow, medium and fast.
๐ข PAGE NUMBER: Everything I read was between 240 and 600 pages. The majority of books I read were between 300 and 499 pages, however.
๐ FICTION/NONFICTION: It was once again all fiction this month.
๐ญ GENRES:Fantasy, as usual, was the biggest bar of the graph. Manga, Graphic Novel, YA, and Middle Grade were the second longest bars after Fantasy. The other genres on the graph were Comics, Romance and Historical.
๐ FORMAT: This little StoryGraph pie chart is almost correct. All of the books except for one we’re all physical copies.
โญ RATING: My median star rating for last month was 4.27. My ratings for October were all pretty varied, but they were generally higher than in September. Most of them were 4.0 and above.
๐ PAGES READ DAILY: I read a ton throughout October. The time I read the least was between the 5th and the 8th, and my peak of reading was on the 20th.
So October ended up being waaayy better reading-wise – and blogging-wide – for me than September was. I’m really happy that I read so much, and with the books that I ended up reading. Here’s to keeping it up in November! ๐ค๐๐ฅ๐ป
I’m actually really excited for the books I’m almost certainly going to read this month. For one thing, Murderbot book #7 is coming out, and it’s my most anticipated book of the year. I’m also looking forward to hate reading Lightlark AND Nightbane, the latter which is also releasing this month. And of course, I’m continuing with One Piece and I’m looking forward to the next arc.
As for anything else I’m planning on for November… Other than the beginning of the holiday season and Thanksgiving and stuff, I’m not really sure yet about anything else. I’ll probably be doing some Christmas shopping though.
Anyway, thank you all so much for checking out my October 2023 Reading stars and monthly wrap-up. I hope you have an awesome day/night!
